DO I NEED A PARTNER?
No!! No partner necessary, we have guys and girls alike coming out, so we will partner everyone up and switch partners throughout the class so you have a chance to meet new people who are learning right along with you.
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?
Be comfortable, you can dress up, or come in jeans, whatever will make you feel comfortable.
SHOULD I WEAR SPECIAL SHOES?
To begin, the only suggestion is to wear any type of leather soled shoe that supports your feet. Opened heel sandals are not recommended. As you progress, you can check out some of the local dance shoe stores in the area and purchase a shoe especially designed for latin dancing. Heels are optional.
SHOULD I TAKE GROUP LESSONS OR PRIVATE LESSONS?
That depends on the student. If you feel comfortable learning in a group, then by all means start with the group lessons and take private lessons to help with any specific difficulties you may be having. If you want a one on one learning experience to get you to learn quickly, individually, then try some private lessons, we offer many packages that may suit you needs.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO GET "GOOD"?
Again, this depends on the student. If you practice and actually go out dancing, you will definitely progress quicker than someone who comes only once a week without practicing.
WHERE CAN I GET MUSIC TO PRACTICE?
There are several cd shops in the Boston area that will supply good salsa music, but you will probably get something better suited for your practicing and pleasure if you go to any salsa DJ, they are usually more than happy to help you get some great salsa music.
WHAT IS THE AGE GROUP OF STUDENTS?
We get students from the age of 16 to 80 years old. Salsa dancing is fun and great exercise, so anyone is welcome, the more who learn, the more people we can dance with!!!
I HAVE TWO LEFT FEET, AM I GOING TO BE ABLE TO DANCE?
No problem! We get this all the time. We teach step by step, it is easy for us to remember that we were all there at one point in our lives, so we are patient and clear at explaining things. As long as you can commit to practicing at home between lessons, you will be fine.
HOW CAN I CONVINCE MY FRIENDS TO TRY THIS WITH ME?
The best idea to get your friends to try it is to host your own little get together and invite us to come and teach them. We offer different packages for parties, you can have us teach/perform/host a latin fiesta with a DJ. It’s a ton of fun that your friends and you will never forget. They will have no problem joining you for lessons after that. Keep in mind, all they know of salsa is “Dancing with the Stars”, they figure, “I’ll never be able to do that”, but if you bring the salsa to them, they will try and realize that everyone had to start somewhere, and oh my gosh, this is really fun!!!
